amalan was selected through a competitive process among more  than 1000 companies from 78 countries. amalan has been chosen as one of the social enterprises that uses an innovative and sustainable way to address a major societal issue - the overindebtedness of around 3 million consumers in Southeast Asia.

Indonesian start-up preparing to expand in Southeast Asia

Participating in the MaGIC Accelerator Program is a strategic step for amalan, since it is preparing to enter the Malaysian market later this year. Through the MaGIC network, amalan can  receive support from a long list of world-class companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Amazon that offer benefits of up to $500,000.

Arne Hartmann, founder and CEO of amalan considers Malaysia as the natural first step in amalan’s expansion, given the close relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia and the potential of the Malaysian market: after Indonesia, Malaysia is the second largest market for consumer debt settlements in the ASEAN region.

Starting from 18 June 2018, Yodhi Kharismanto, Director of amalan and Indika Putra, in charge of business development, will be in Kuala Lumpur to join the accelerator program and prepare to launch amalan’s operations in Malaysia. Both Yodhi and Indika graduated with an MBA from Gadjah Mada University.
